Appointment of special prosecutor for lobbyist Jack Abramoff expected

A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow in the mainland where congressmen are expected to call for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate two scandals relating to lobbyist Jack Abramoff. According to wire reports, Congressmen John Conyers, Jr. and George Miller have requested inquiries into suspected acts of political manipulation relating to Abramoff's work on Guam and in the CNMI.

The FBI and the Justice Department already launched investigations into the alleged demotion to former acting U.S. Attorney Fred Black. Abramoff is best known on the island for his lobbying efforts on behalf of the Superior Court several years ago.
